The Bartlett’s Anthias (Pseudanthias bartlettorum) is a captivating marine fish found in the Pacific Ocean. Here are some key details about this colorful fish:

  • Appearance: Also known as the Bartlett’s Fairy Bass, the males exhibit intense coloration with a violet body and yellow markings along the back through the upper caudal lobe. Females tend to be lavender with a yellow back and caudal fin.
  • Habitat: Bartlett’s Anthias predominantly occupy the middle of the aquarium water column but venture freely into all regions, injecting vibrant color wherever they swim.
  • Natural Environment: To recreate a natural reef environment, use live rock, create slopes, caves, and overhangs.
  • Diet: Feed them a varied diet of frozen mysis shrimp, enriched frozen brine shrimp, and high-quality flake foods.
  • Unique Trait: Anthias species are hermaphroditic, and if a dominant male perishes, the largest female may morph to take its place.

These active planktivores add vibrancy to your marine aquarium!
