The Bimaculatus Anthias, also known as the Twospot or Twinspot Anthias, is a captivating saltwater fish found in the Indo-Pacific region. These vibrant creatures exhibit stunning colors and unique features:

  • Appearance:
    • Males: They have one or two spots on their dorsal fin, with a pink head that fades into a vibrant red extending to the tail. Irregular pink bars run horizontally along their body, making them one of the most gorgeous of all Anthias.
    • Females: They are pink with yellow dorsal, anal, and caudal fins.
  • Size: Bimaculatus Anthias can reach a maximum length of approximately 5 inches.
  • Habitat: They thrive in reef environments and appreciate several hiding places within a tank.
  • Diet: These planktivores benefit from a varied diet, including frozen mysis shrimp, enriched frozen brine shrimp, and high-quality flake foods offered in small quantities throughout the day.
  • Social Behavior: Anthias species are hermaphroditic, meaning if a dominant male perishes, the largest female in the group may morph to take its place.

If you’re lucky enough to have these exquisite fish in your aquarium, you’ll be treated to their graceful movements and vibrant colors.
